Jab We Met

Music Director: Pritam

I know Jab We Met is not so new, but I thought I might as well write a movie review on this fantastic film. Let me give you a brief outline on the plot before I comment on the cast and crew of the film. Jab We Met is a romantic comedy about Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) and Geet (Kareena Kapoor). Aditya, an industrialist, goes into depression after attending the marriage of the girl he loves. Feeling ashamed to face the world, he walks out of the marriage gathering and boards a train in the night. There he meets Geet, talkative girl who is leaving Mumbai to go to her hometown - Bhatinda (Punjab).Initially, Geet irritates Aditya greatly, and every meeting becomes mental torture for him. She discloses big plans to him of eloping with her boyfriend Anshuman (Tarun Arora) as she fears resentment from her parents. Geet irritates Aditya to the point of getting him to leave the train. As she tries to get him back on the train, she ends up missing it and the two find themselves stranded on a desolate station with no luggage or money. Geet confronts Aditya and tells him that he is now responsible for getting her safely to her house in Punjab. Both of them begin an idyllic journey through the exuberant North Indian heartland, and make their way through buses, taxis and camel-carts to reach her house. Now it's time to rate the performances.

Kareena Kapoor: She is fantastic! I think Jab We Met is defenitely her finest performance so far. I can't even think of another actress who could have played the role so beautifully. Hats off to her!

Shahid Kapoor: He is really good for all these romantic films. He got the looks and the expressions. Eventhough you only see Kareena throughout the film, Shahid manages to carve a niche for himself.

Imtiaz Ali: Great work by the director of the film. I was really impressed with his debut film Socha Na Tha, starring Ayesha Takia and Abhay Deol. Now, he has proved that he is a capable director and he is here to stay. Watch out for his forthcoming film starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Rating: 4.5/5
